Tensions ran high when two Tennessee D-II colleges met on the hardwood. Lane College and LeMoyne Owen College are bitter rivals and were determined to literally leave it all on the floor.
During Saturday’s basketball game, a huge brawl broke out, complete with chairs thrown in addition to punches. Coaches from both school, as well as spectators, joined in and chaos ensued.
15 student athletes will serve suspensions ranging from two to five games. Both colleges and their head coaches will face undisclosed fines. All spectators that were, or will be, identified by the Memphis Police Department will be banned from any Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition or event indefinitely.
