Lamar Odom is out of rehab and thinking about the next phase of his life. TMZ Sports caught up with the ex NBA player in L.A. and asked him about getting back into the NBA. LO said he has already talked with Luke Walton about becoming a member of the Lakers coaching staff.
It’s hard to know how serious LO is about becoming a coach. The interaction between he and the TMZ cameraman was not direct. LO was obviously on his way somewhere and the cameraman just started peppering him with questions.
If Odom is serious about becoming a coach, he certainly can be a good one. Widely known among his peers as having a high basketball IQ, he could be a tremendous asset on a staff. Given his substance abuse problems and overall health and stability, he would be wise to take a measured approach to re-entry. Odom needs to surround himself with a good team of health professionals, including a counselor. If he approaches this with the mindset of being in good health first, it should work very well.
