Lady Gaga is the halftime performer at this years Superbowl and we can expect a spectacle. Lady Gaga is an incredible performer and nothing is off limits to her, including politics. She was very vocal this past election campaign and was/still is “with her”.
Naturally, with the political climate after Trump’s win, Gaga would say something.
Entertainment Tonight reported that a source close with the halftime show said that she was told not to mention Trump by the NFL.
Here what’s the source told ET,
“Lady Gaga was told by the NFL that she cannot say anything or bring anything up about the election, or mention Donald Trump.”
You can imagine that the NFL would do something like that because there’s plenty of support for Trump in the NFL, mainly among the higher ups and they’re controlling.
They would like to keep it on football and not bring in politics but when you have Bill Belichick sending letters to Trump, we’ve crossed the “stick to sports” line.
NFL reps responded swiftly to this report and Senior VP of Communications for the NFL, Natalie Ravitz told CNN,
“It’s false. This is unsourced nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none. The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together. Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this.”
Representative for Lady Gaga also confirmed the NFL’s statement. So who’s knows what Gaga has up her sleeve.
We do know millions of us will see it.
