Last year’s huge Royal Rumble surprise was the arrival of A.J. Styles and this year another former TNA standout is prime to make a WWE main roster splash.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via Wrestlezone.com, Samoa Joe is prime for a NXT call up & a huge main roster push.
Samoa Joe is reportedly involved in early plans that would see him called up to the main WWE roster and get a monster push in time for Wrestlemania 33.
It was noted that the plans for Wrestlemania aren’t finalized, but the idea on the table would have Joe be in a top match at the event. It was also speculated that Joe would likely start very soon in order for this plan to kick off, and it makes sense for him to appear in the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant and have a big showing.
The reports are unconfirmed but where there’s smoke in the pro wrestling world there’s usually fire.
Samoa Joe’s recent absence from NXT television and his lack of a storyline lend credence to the reports.
Here’s to hoping Samoa Joe gets the right feud on the main roster.
