The Bulls locker room tensions are continuing to evolve with some new revelations. After the Bulls loss to the Hawks on Wednesday, they held a team meeting on Friday where many frustrations were aired. Taj Gibson shared some insights from that meeting with Nick Friedell from ESPN. According to Gibson, the younger players wanted to see more of 35 year-old Dwyane Wade on the practice court.
“That’s one of the things in the meeting: Young guys just want a little bit more from him,” Gibson said of Wade, via Nick Friedell of ESPN. “And he brung it today. He pushed the young guys. And that’s a sign that that meeting did a little something.
“It’s all about positive. We’re not trying to have any negative aspects, anything like that. We got everybody against us right now. The only people who are going to help us out of this is ourselves. And we understand that. And [executive VP John Paxson] said it in the meeting yesterday, too.”
It’s clear that Wade does not have the luxury of picking his spots in practice like he would be able to in Miami, as Bulls players are apparently not in awe of what Wade has done in the past. At 35 and a 3 time champion, Wade has little to prove in practice, so it will be up to coach Hoiberg to figure out a way to balance Wade’s health against the need for team chemistry.
