Before last season, the Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on All-Pro safety Eric Berry. After having arguably the best season of his career, the two parties have come to terms on a long-term deal.
Chiefs gave S Eric Berry a six-year, $78 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed and a $20 mil signing bonus, per source.

Berry finished this past season with 77 tackles, nine passes defended, four interceptions, and two touchdowns.
Kansas City had the option to place the tag on Berry again, but he threatened to sit out in 2017 if that were the case. Now, the Chiefs can use their franchise tag on defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
