Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has been victimized at the rim before. Many times actually – he’s been on posters featuring Jeff Green, Larry Nance Jr., Kevin Durant, Josh Smith, and you get the point.
When Miami Heat guard Rodney McGruder challenged him Friday night, Lopez decided that enough was enough.

Brook turned the tables on McGruder, stopping the ball in midair and taking him all the way down to the Barclays Center hardwood. Lopez shocked the Brooklyn crowd, Nets play-by-play announcers and probably himself.
While the block doesn’t necessarily erase the memory of a LeBron James hammerdunk in his grill, at least it lets McGruder know there are levels to this and he’ll have to earn his poster.
