Kevin Durant will be making his first trip to Oklahoma City as a member of the Golden State Warriors today. League sources have revealed that, as a measure of caution, KD and his business manager, Rich Kleiman have beefed up their security.
The normal amount of security personnel has been tripled as a “heightened armed security team” has been acquired.
Kleiman will sit with Durant’s mother, Wanda during what is sure to be a highly charged, hostile environment at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The two will be the focus of a special group of security officials to ensure their protection.
Due to time constraints, and to avoid incident we’re sure, Kleiman will also appear on KD’s behalf at various foundations and organizations that KD continues to support. Despite the precautions, don’t expect KD to be on lockdown outside of the game. The star forward plans to go out and about in the city to a certain extent.
To prepare for the return to OKC, KD reached out to LeBron’s agent Rich Paul for advice. Paul advised the star to heighten security, stay aware of his family’s whereabouts, and to keep his emotions in check regardless of the heckling he will undoubtedly endure. Paul also reminded KD to show his appreciation to OKC and the organization.
