Elway Doesn’t Believe Kap is Being Blackballed by NFL; So Why Han’t He Called Him? (Video)

TMZ Sports caught up with Denver Broncos EVP and GM John Elway in D.C. He was asked directly if he thought Colin Kaepernick was being blackballed by the NFL, his response was no. Not a surprising response from Elway. Whether or not he is telling the truth on this is difficult to determine. But he was never going to say anything to “stir the pot” or make news.

Elway was also asked if he thought Kap could still play. His response to that question was interesting. He said, he wasn’t close enough to the situation to make an assessment. So, Elway is close enough or has enough information to determine Kap is not being blackballed but he isn’t close enough to determine if he can still play? Curious. Elway is probably more qualified than any other GM to breakdown tape on quarterbacks. Has he not seen any tape on Kap from last year? Also, the team he runs is in need of a quarterback. With talent so scarce at the most important position on the field, shouldn’t he want to take a look and get “close enough” to determine if Kap can still play?

We are on record at BSO as saying Kap’s inability to get a phone call from team’s looking for quarterback’s has nothing to do with his play on the field, and we stand by that. We can’t say for certain that he is being blackballed. But you have to wonder, with players that have pedigrees and performance that are less than the best of Kap and those same players have signed deals and have gotten calls, why hasn’t Kap? Curiouser and curiouser.
