Former Buccaneers wide receiver Louis Murphy was arrested and charged early Wednesday morning with felony weapon possession. Murphy was at Tampa International Airport, according to The Tampa Bay Times, and a gun was found inside his luggage at security checkpoint.
Not sure how Murphy thought he’d make it past security with a gun in his luggage, but to each is own. Murphy was booked by the authorities and released on $2,000 bond. Again, not sure why he was trying to get a gun on a plane. If Murphy believes his life is in danger, there are other solutions than having a gun.
Murphy last played in 2015 and spent last summer and the first half of the 2016 season on the physically unable to perform list. Healthy or not, this latest incident won’t help him get a job.
