The Sporting News is reporting that Cincinnati Reds prospect Ian Kahaloa was suspended 50 games following a second positive test for drug use. But here is the kicker. Kahaloa apparently snitched on himself via Snapchat.
Kahaloa posted four videos to his account. In one video he appears to be snorting cocaine through a rolled up bill and the text across the video reads “party time.”

Reds management is very concerned about the situation, obviously Kahaloa has a problem. Posting video of yourself doing illegal drugs is not the way to begin a major league career. Even if Snapchat videos “disappear” in theory, the internet has a way of making things permanent. Maybe Kahaloa wanted to get caught, who knows.
Reds director of player development Jeff Graupe told the Cincinnati Enquirer:
We’re obviously really concerned. We’re working to get Ian the help and assistance that we believe he needs to get his long-term future to a more stable place. We’re kind of putting the baseball on the backburner.
Baseball is clearly not Kahaloa’s focus right now. This kid is 19 years old and his dream of being drafted by a MLB team is realized and with that comes a level of fame, expectation and pressures that few 19 year olds are equipped to handle.
