Verizon is taking the steps to become the premier streaming service for the NFL starting with a week 3 game between the Jaguars and the Ravens.
According to Recode, Verizon will pay approximately $21 million to stream the game on its properties, including AOL, and to an international audience. With the game buy, Verizon looks to step to the forefront of streaming live games as the future for traditionally televised games looks shaky. By acquiring streaming rights, Verizon stands to place themselves in prime position with an international audiences who cannot view the game live due to time zone restrictions.
The game in London on Sept. 24 has kickoff set for 9:30 a.m. ET.
