The 08′ Boston Celtics were one of the most complete squads the NBA had seen in a long time. The bench was solid, and the acquisitions of Kevin Garnett & Ray Allen to go along with a young Paul Pierce, as well as youngsters Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis & Rajon Rondo, set the team up perfectly to take down a budding LeBron James (though, had the Cavs been built properly, this likely doesn’t happen in this way exactly).
It seemed like the Celtics were going to be championship contenders for years to come with this nucleus, until LeBron James shifted the entire Eastern Conference by leaving Cleveland to build his own super-team in Miami, snatching up the Celtics best shooter, Ray Allen, in the process.
It’s been no secret that KG, Rondo & the rest of the gang felt betrayed by Allen’s departure and we haven’t heard anyone speak much of the situation until now.
On Monday night’s episode of Area 21, Garnett hosts his championship Celtics teammates for a little reunion which makes for incredible television. Noticeably absent is Allen, & while all of these guys admit to being open to a reconciliation; the chances of that happening on a public forum such as this wain with every year we get further away from the victory.
