2017 continues to be a year of better match-ups with another anticipated scrap confirmed and landing in New York.
Following the announcement of a fight between four-division world champion Adrien Broner and three-division world champion Mikey Garcia, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center was confirmed on Tuesday as host of the bout. The bout will headline on Showtime Championship Boxing on July 29.
Broner will enter for the second time in 2017 after defeating Ashley Theophane by split decision in February. Originally a title clash for the vacant WBA super featherweight title, Broner lost the opportunity to win the strap after failing to make weight.
The clash represents the second fight of the year for Mikey Garcia who last defeated Dejan Zlaticanin for the WBC world lightweight titled in January. Garcia defeated Zlaticanin by knockout in the third round of action.
