As a major partner of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions it’s no secret that Bernard Hopkins isn’t a huge fan of the upcoming Mayweather vs. McGregor fight set for August in Las Vegas.
Speaking to TMZ at Thursday night’s Los Angeles press conference to promote the Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight, which takes place in September, Hopkins didn’t mince words when asked about the Mayweather vs. McGregor event and boxing’s latest round of costly pay-per-view broadcasts.
“You got a world class icon, legend to some fighting who?
You got a chance to get in a Ferrari but you choose the Pontiac?!?”
He goes on to call Mayweather vs. McGregor “fake news” and slides in a few more sneak disses.
