BSO spoke with Hall of Fame legend George “Iceman” Gervin at BIG3 media day on Friday. Ice is the head coach of the Ghost Ballers squad. During our interview Ice talked about how excited he was to get the text from league founder Ice Cube to participate as a coach. But he didn’t believe it, so he told Cube to call him. He did and the rest is history.
Ice talked about the confidence he has in his team, and going back to 3 on 3 play which is how most people grow up playing the game. We also discussed the physicality in the game of basketball and why Kevin Durant could play and be a star in any era.
The Ghost Ballers are captained by Mike Bibby and Ricky Davis. The rest of the squad includes: Mo Evans, Marcus Banks, Ivan Johnson, and Joe Smith. League play begins Sunday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
