How Keyshawn Johnson Jr. Weed Addiction Led His Pops To Pull Him Off Nebraska Football Team

Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald is reporting that Keyshawn Johnson Jr., son of the former NFL wide receiver and football analyst has taken a leave of absence from the Nebraska football team. The leave of absence was a decision made by the elder Johnson, head coach Mike Riley, and the Huskers athletic department.

On June 9, Johnson Jr. was cited on suspicion of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a Nebraska dorm room. Johnson Sr. hopes time away from the game will help his son mature, saying:

You’re in college now. You’re an adult. You’re not a kid. You take a look at it from afar and let me know how important it is to you.

Johnson Jr. had enrolled at Nebraska early with the hopes of getting a jump on spring practice and adjusting to college life. He suffered an early injury that set him back temporarily. Now he gets busted for smoking weed.

We often think of college athletes as grown men, when in fact they are still immature children that need to do a lot of growing up. Unfortunately for them they have to mature with a spotlight shining brightly on them. Here is hoping young Keyshawn figures it out.
