The New York Giants begin mandatory mini camp this week (June 13-15). The question on Giants’ fans minds is, will OBJ show up? We have seen OBJ pop up all over the place the last several weeks, but not at voluntary OTAs. The star wide receiver took to Instagram and posted a video of himself working out with the caption “The rain falls on the just and unjust alike…” #ImBack Does this mean we will see OBJ at minicamp this week? ESPN’s Josina Anderson is reporting that according to sources OBJ is at the Giants team facility today for his physical.
I’m told #Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr is currently at the team facility. Physicals are today.

Mini camp is mandatory, so if OBJ skips he will be subject to fines from the team. But, he did show up for his physical today. What does this all mean? Beckham is clearly angling for a new deal as he believes he has outperformed his current contract. If you are familiar with my work, you know I tend to side with labor (athletes) in most contract disputes. Particularly in a sport like football where your peak earning years are short, injury can happen at any moment, and there are no guaranteed contracts.
My guess is, OBJ is at the team facility for his physical to show the team and staff that he has been working out and is primed and ready for the upcoming season. But he may not attend all of the mandatory camp with the hopes of engaging the Giants front office in working out a new deal. The Giants don’t have to do anything as OBJ is under contract. But, they may want to go ahead and consider locking up the team’s best player.
