As we near closer and closer to the highly anticipated showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, UFC president Dana White is standing behind his praise of McGregor’s sparring skills.
While there’s no doubt what Floyd can do in the boxing ring, many called into question McGregor’s boxing abilities. White released footage last week of McGregor sparring with former two division boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi.
In the footage, the Irish UFC fighter seemed to get the best of Malignaggi, who had made some not so flattering comments in the press. Malignaggi insists the footage was edited to make McGregor look good – a claim White vehemently denies.
“Yeah, I got no problem releasing the full tape. The problem is Conor doesn’t want Mayweather to see everything that he’s doing and everything that he’s working on. Those were some small sections. It was very one-sided, it was an absolute beating. And guess what? I think it was the right thing for Paulie Malignaggi to definitely leave, for his health’s sake.”
