Johnny Manziel has all but squandered his chance at a good NFL career, but he’s not calling it quits just yet.
Manziel is in the midst of attempting a comeback after sitting out all of last season. He was released by the Browns after two underwhelming seasons in which he threw for seven tds, seven ints, & a measly 1,675 yards. He also lost seven fumbles.
While speaking at an international betting conference in Costa Rica Monday, Manziel touched on what he sees himself doing if he never sees an NFL field again:
“I’d do something involved with sports. I can’t get away from it,” Manziel said, per ESPN. “I’ve had to ask myself that a little bit as of late over the past year, but at the same time I’d want to be involved in sports in some way, whether it’s coaching, whether it’s doing something like that. So I think that’d be my route.”
When asked at what level he’d like to coach at, Manziel responded “probably college.”
Manziel most recently coached high schoolers at the Elite 11 QB camp in Miami, however one of the early indicators that he had issues came in 2013 when Manziel still in college & was sent home for oversleeping & missing assigned meetings while working for football royalty; the Manning Family.
I’d say his NFL career is likely finished as a player, BUT then again teams are reaching out to Tim Tebow & if it came down to Manziel or Kaepernick…I think owners might be dumb enough to give him a shot.
We will see.
