Matthew Stafford just got paid.
The QB has just signed a massive 5-year deal with the Detroit Lions. The deal pays an average annual of $27 million making Stafford the highest paid player in NFL history, eclipsing Derek Carr’s $25 million annual average signed earlier this year.
Stafford is also expected to surpass Andrew Luck’s record $87 million in guaranteed money. Per Adam Schefter, the Lions have guaranteed Stafford a record $92 million including a $50 million signing bonus.
The 29-year old leads the Lions franchise in nearly every passing category and the new deal keeps the promising QB in Detroit through what will likely be the prime of his career.
