Stephon Marbury had a lot to say when Lavar Ball revealed his Baller Brand to the world. Marbury, who has made sneakers affordable for families, doesn’t necessarily disagree with the brand but wishes that they are more accessible to the public.
“When I see a sneaker for over $400, for me, that’s kind of brainless because it doesn’t cost that much to make,” Marbury said while addressing NYU students in New York City on Wednesday. “I like the idea of them wanting to own their own brand. I do like that idea, just not for the price tag.”
I can see both sides of the spectrum. Marbury doesn’t make these comments to Louis Vuitton, so why does he feel the need to see Ball decrease the value of his brand? On the other hand, there are many people in the scope of Ball’s target audience, such as myself, who would love to support him, but can’t justify spending $400 on a pair of shoes; To play devils advocate, if you want something bad enough, you’ll save up for it… right? Either way Ma
Marbury has a point, it would be awesome to see Ball make sneakers more affordable to target kids who look up to Zo, but just like parents save up for certain brands, the same can be done for him.
