I know what you’re all thinking. LL Cool J? Isn’t that the dude that hosts the Grammys and Lip Sync Battle? Isn’t he on one of those CSI or NCIS shows? Yes and it’s NCIS. But James Todd Smith is also a rapper. Many moons ago he was cold on the mic. The Queens native returned home on Saturday at the Meadows Music Festival and performed his classics.
The rapper, actor, entrepreneur brought out Q-Tip and Jarobi White to pay homage to the late Phife Dawg, whom along with Tip, White and Ali Shaheed make up the hip-hop collective and supergroup, A Tribe Called Quest.
The assembled crowd that ranged in age from late teens to late 40s were really feeling the vibe and energy from LL. The tribute to Phife and the special guests really elevated the already hyped atmosphere.
