Bossip has learned that a judge has agreed to lower Gilbert Arenas’ monthly child support to Laura Govan on the grounds that a determination cannot be made as to how much money either party makes. Arenas was paying $20K, the judge agreed to lower the payments to $7K.
Arenas filed the motion in LA Family Court and asked his payment be lowered since he no longer plays in the NBA. Judge Mark Juhas found Govan’s income and expense statements to the court were “not reliable.” Apparently she has been making money off a reality tv show and through promoting other goods and services online.
It was incumbent on Govan to prove that there was a change in the financial circumstances. Juhas’ ruling read in part:
It is the respondent’s burden to demonstrate a change in circumstances and completely show what his actual income is. Respondent cannot fail to disclose his income and receive full retroactivity.
This back and forth between Arenas and Govan has been going on for quite a while and something tells us it will continue.
