Jaguars owner Shad Khan isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to the Trump style of leadership, calling the him the “great divider,” and his fellow NFL owners calling them, “85-year old racists”.
In an interview with Crain’s Chicago Business Khan, one of several NFL owners that donated one million dollars to the President’s inauguration, says that Trump has been successful at dividing people and making them confused about their First Amendment rights.
“You have to give Trump credit, people are confused on the First Amendment versus patriotism, that if you exercise your First Amendment you’re not a patriot, which is crazy,” Khan said. “People are confused on it, (Trump) knew he could hit on it and take advantage. I think what we’re seeing is the great divider overcoming the great uniter.”
Khan, who is the NFL’s first non-white owner after numerous attempts, goes on to describe his peers as “a bunch of racists.”
“You’ve got a bunch of 85-year-old guys who don’t think they’re racist, but they are racist.”
The NFL owners are scheduled to meet in New York next week to discuss protocol for the anthem going forward.
