We have another case of a law enforcement official receiving no punishment for their own crimes. Reported by TheGrio.com, Palm Beach County deputy Jason Cooke was caught on camera stealing medication from the home of Moe Rosoff.
Cooke was sent to the home after Rosoff’s father made a call to police to for a welfare check on September 12 at the residence. At the conclusion of the check, Rosoff hit his head after a fall and was taken to the hospital.
Deputy Cooke returned to the home after Rosoff was taken to the hospital. He didn’t realize that he tripped over a motion-sensitive camera so his crime was caught.
Cooke received no punishment from The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after the incident. On October 19, he was finally placed on administrative leave which resulted in him resigning as deputy and arrested.
“The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards and never forgets about its duty to preserve the public’s trust,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement concerning the burglary. “Unfortunately sometimes an employee makes a bad decision which leads to misconduct. D/S Cooke’s misconduct was reported to PBSO, we investigated and determined his actions were criminal in nature, resulting in the charges.”
