Chrisette Michele lost nearly all of her fans in January after she decided to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration. This was a shocking move on her fans’ part as people wondered whether she did it for the money or if she simply lost sight of the crucial issues that America is currently dealing as far as race goes.
Today, Michele appeared on The Breakfast Club to discuss the backlash following her performance at the inauguration and how those emotions sunk her into a state of depression.
Prior to her interview, she took to Instagram over the weekend to detail the emotions she’s been experiencing since then.
“I know I’ve sown positive seeds. I know I’ve lifted people. I know I’ve been part of community activations and black empowerment. When a community sticks its middle finger up at you and completely forgets everything you’ve ever done, you’re worthless. You’ve just spent 10 years kicking you’re own ass to be there for everyone and suddenly no one is there for you? I don’t need to be here. And when you’ve drank so much you can’t see clearly.
