The Miami Dolphins were apparently open to trading talented wide receiver Jarvis Landry. But the trade deadline came and went and only Jay Ajayi was moved. Head coach Adam Gase was asked about Landry, according to Pro Football Talk, and he has a vision for the team’s wide receivers and said Landry is a part of that for now.
We have a vision for what we want that wide receiver room to look like and we expect him to be a huge part of that. And however it works out down the road, that’s hard for me to say. Because, you know, I don’t negotiate the contracts. So I’ll blame [executive vice president] Mike [Tannenbaum] on that one. So I like that group. I like that group a lot. We have a lot of talent. We have guys who are trying to do it right. And fight through the entire game. We see some moments where things look really good. And we have to just find ways to improve and we have to keep being on the details and make sure we’re accountable to each other.
Landry is very talented and the Dolphins would hate to lose him. But as Gase said it’s ultimately not up to him. EVP Mike Tannenbaum calls the shots and he has the close relationship with owner Stephen Ross. Maybe Tannenbaum thinks he could land a haul for trading Landry to a contender. Who knows, but it looks like things are going to get shaken up even more down in Miami.
