Looks like the end of an era for the New York Giants. 2X Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning has been benched in favor of backup Geno Smith, head coach Ben McAdoo made the announcement on Tuesday. The Giants are 2-9 and headed nowhere fast. The team has been terrible all season and McAdoo, fighting for his job, is desperate to try anything. But this is all too little too late.
Geno Smith is looking forward to his opportunity and in the cold, cruel world of professional football he has the next man up mentality. “Looking forward to Sunday” is what he relayed to ESPN’s Josina Anderson. None of it matters though, the team is not very good and is in serious need of a shakeup on both sides of the ball and in the coaching rooms and front office as well.
Still, Geno sees this an opportunity for himself and Eli is undoubtedly upset over possibly ending his career as a New York Giant.
