Late Tuesday night Aaron Rodgers announced via his Instagram page that he will be making his return to the football field. This is major news across the NFL. After just losing possibly the MVP in Carson Wentz, the NFL and the Packers get arguably the best QB in the NFL back into action.
For the Packers, this comes at a perfect time. Backup QB Brett Hundley stepped in and did his job and kept the Packers in the playoff hunt. Now it will all be on Aaron Rodgers to lead his pack back into the playoffs. This week he gets to face a tough defense in the Carolina Panthers but let’s be honest here, it’s Aaron freaking Rodgers we are talking about here. The Packers currently hold a 7-6 record and are only 1 GB from the last and final wildcard spot. The good news, the Panthers are in the 2nd wildcard spot and a win against the Panthers can get them one step closer. The Packers finish the season at home vs the Vikings and on the road for the season finale against Detriot. If Rodgers can somehow lead the Packers into the playoffs, buckle up ladies and gentlemen, Rodgers has the talent to lead this team to a super bowl appearance and possibly a super bowl victory.
What does this mean for Fantasy players? If you are still in the playoffs and if you were smart enough to pick up Aaron Rodgers a few weeks ago and stash him for this moment ahead of all your other peers, you look like a genius! You get arguably the best QB in the NFL and he can potentially win you your league single-handedly. Yes, he does have two tough opponents in Carolina and Minnesota, but like I said earlier, it’s Aaron Rodgers, you are not benching him against anyone. This also gives a boost to the receiving corp, Jordy Nelson, DaVante Adams and Randall Cobb. The biggest beneficiary is Jordy who has been quiet in his production since Rodgers went down. Look for Rodgers to lean on his favorite target and get Nelson back into fantasy considerations. If for whatever wild reason Aaron Rodgers is sitting on your waiver wire, do yourself a favor and pick him up, start him and go win yourself the fantasy football championship!
Good luck!
