Are Giants Eli Apple And Landon Collins Beefing? Why One Can Find Himself Out of NY Next Season

The dumpster fire that is the New York Giants season continues to burn. The latest, according to Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com, is that maligned Giants cornerback Eli Apple is refuting a claim by teammate Landon Collins that the two had a sit down meeting. Apple has had a rough season with inconsistency, nagging injury, and has been a healthy scratch. When asked by reporters after practice which teammates have helped him remain positive he replied:

I talked to Brandon Marshall, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie — DRC is always a good person to talk to because he kind of went through the same thing when he was around my age.

No mention of Landon Collins, who on Wednesday said:

I had a sit down with him, a couple of us had a sit-down with him and we just said, ‘Man regardless of the situation, we got your back. You’re our brother.’

In response to Apple’s comments, Collins said:

That’s what he said? I guess he don’t remember things then. But I’m not about to start that conversation with me and my teammate. It is what it is. I know what I did. I’ve spoken highly of him, but it is what it is.

There is no need for this right now. The team is 2-11 and headed for a top 3 draft pick. If Apple and Collins have beef, hash it out and settle it. The truth is, with a new regime coming in (GM and head coach) a lot of the recent draft picks that have not proven themselves are candidates to be replaced.

The film of the last three games will be used when the new regime starts evaluating the roster. Instead of beefing, guys need to show up and show out if they want to remain a part of the team’s future.
