The atmosphere has been a bit…different at Bank of America Stadium as the team notified the NFL on Friday of an investigation regarding owner Jerry Richardson.
Richardson has been accused of racial misconduct and sexual harassment in the workplace. An Sports Illustrated article was released ahead of Sunday’s Panthers-Packers matchup which provided the detail of the allegations including payouts to Panthers employees.
Following the team’s 31-24 win over Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, Head Coach Ron Rivera and quarterback Cam Newton were both asked about the Richardson investigation. Both men reiterated how much of a good guy Richardson is and how he has done so much for the players and the organization as a whole.
Rivera mentioned his house fire and the passing of his brother – two events that he said Richardson was extremely supportive of. Newton added that he had found “refuge” in Richardson as someone he could talk to.
