The Cleveland Cavaliers are rolling right now. The Cavs have won five straight games and are 9-1 in their last 10 games overall. The Cavs are also the number two seed behind the Boston Celtics and are 1.5 games back of the number one seed.
As for their roster, the Cavs will receive a late Christmas gift. Isaiah Thomas is reportedly targetting an early January return to the team following a long lay off due to an injured hip. Thomas is targetting a potential “revenge game” against the Celtics on January 3rd. Thomas will make the Cavs even tougher to defend as he is one of the best scorers in the NBA. Last season Isaiah Thomas averaged 28.9 points ranking only behind James Harden and MVP Russell Westbrook. Thomas will give the starting unit automatic offense and he can help shoulder some of the load off LeBron who has had arguably one of his best starts to a season in year 15. Thomas is also one of the league’s best finishers around the rim and a good passer as well as he has averaged 5.2 assists for his career.
Thomas was acquired in the off-season from the Celtics in the blockbuster trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics and sent Thomas, Jae Crowder, a first-round pick and Ante Zizic. Many questioned if Thomas will be the same player after the injury but Thomas vowed to be the same player he was before the injury and would not be damaged goods.
