Sacramento Kings guard Vince Carter is in his 19th season in the NBA, and if things go his way he’ll play at least one more for an even 20. Tonight, Carter’s Kings are in Brooklyn to take on the Nets.
Pre-game Carter was on the court working with his teammate, rookie Harry Giles. The two were involved in a series of one-on-one post plays, pin down sets and pick and pop. Vinsanity then did similar work with another young player; big man Skal Labissiere.
Vince is enjoying his role as elder statesman and ranking veteran in the locker room. He is imparting a lot of wisdom and tricks of the trade to the young guys. Paying it forward, as many vets did for him in his Toronto Raptors days.
Mr. Half-Man/Half-Amazing held court just outside the visitors locker room and I asked him about working with Harry Giles, who is a Duke Blue Devil (Carter is a UNC alumnus). He also opened up about his future after basketball. Could Vince consider coaching or working in the front office?
