Kevin Durant’s alma mater, University of Texas, is so thankful for his most recent gift they are naming an entire building after him.
USA Today reports that Durant presented the Texas men’s basketball program with a three million dollar donation, the largest in the school’s history by a former player. As a result, the university’s basketball facilities will be renamed to “The Kevin Durant Basketball Facility for Men.”
In a prepared statement, Durant reflected on how much the school meant to him and his development as a man and a player.
“My time as a Longhorn helped build the foundation for who I am today as a player and a person,” Durant said in a statement. “It’s an honor to have such a close and unique relationship with Texas basketball, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute.”
The funds will be allocated to the team with $500,000 earmarked for the university’s Center for Sports Leadership.
