Anthony Davis Theorizes That Pelicans Would’ve Made Finals If DeMarcus Cousins Didn’t Get Hurt

The New Orleans Pelicans looked like they were going to be playoff bound this year with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins playing their first full season together. The two are recognized as two of the best big men in the NBA.

Cousins suffered an Achilles injury that put him out of action for the season in January. The Pelicans stand at 31-26 and eighth in the Western Conference at the moment.

In an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, Davis believed that New Orleans could’ve gone all the way to the NBA Finals if Cousins didn’t go down. He went on to say that nobody could stop them as big men and that would’ve played a huge factor in getting to the Finals.

Cousins and Davis were dominant prior to the devastating injury but the Pelicans still suffered some questionable losses such as to the Grizzlies, Kings, Knicks, and Mavericks. Nonetheless, the two best big men in the NBA are on the same team and that could be almost enough to get to the Finals but New Orleans needs to focus on other aspects of their game such as a solid mid-range game and not solely rely on Cousins and Davis.
