I love this.
It’s absolutely imperative that black people understand the impact of moments like this high-budget Black Panther movie being made. Prominent black athletes are showing they understand this by using their resources to send families to see the film all over the country.
There are tons of other undocumented instances where community leaders, teachers, & organizers are also taking black children to see it; not only because it’s such an incredible superhero movie, but to see themselves represented in a blockbuster film.
Serena Williams & her husband took their time & resources to rent out an entire theater for members of the California youth group Black Girl’s CODE.
The video is pretty inspiring.
Between things like this & Kaepernick’s pledge of $1 million to the community; we’re seeing more & more of our most prominent figures standing up & taking pride in strengthing the black community.
