Cowboys Wide Receiver Dez Bryant is heading into his ninth season with the Cowboys and critics are saying that he’s losing the title of an elite receiver in the NFL. He will now be working with David Robinson, a personal wide receivers coach, per NFL Network’s Jane Slater.
Robinson has worked with names such as Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders. Robinson said he would work with Bryant on his route tree, beating defenders at the line of scrimmage, and footwork techniques that will benefit him as he ages.
Robinson told The Ben & Skin Show in Dallas that Bryant still has the explosiveness at his age but his skillset has become rusty and that his workouts will make Bryant wake his muscle memories up.
“In my opinion, I definitely think that Dez can run the whole complete route tree,”said Robinson. “He just hasn’t been asked to do so. And I believe they also need to move him around a bit, too: outside, put him in the slot some because he’s a mismatch to a lot of defenders.”
Bryant can definitely be an effective receiver again for Dallas should he put the necessary work and time in. Dak Prescott continues to succeed at QB and Bryant elevating his game back to where it once was can earn them an NFC East crown once again in 2018.
