The Lakers thoroughly dominated the Miami HEAT and Big Baller Lonzo Ball did not disappoint. The Lakers crushed the HEAT by a score of 131-113, and Lonzo Ball was able to dominate the game without filling up the stat sheet. Ball finished with 6 points, 6 steals, and 7 assists and basically controlled all aspects of the game from the very beginning.
Ball has a natural instinctive feel for the game of basketball that rewards his teammates with open shots and constantly spurred the Lakers to winning plays against the HEAT. The Lakers shot 59% from the field and 55% from the 3-point line in a game that wasn’t close. Isaiah Thomas led all scorers with 29 points and seems to be fitting in well as a scoring guard alongside Lonzo Ball.
I spoke with Lonzo after the game and asked him how Isaiah Thomas is helping him.
Lonzo Ball and Isaiah Thomas are working well together on and off the court, which should give the Lakers an outside chance to make the playoffs. As the game unfolded, I marveled at how effortless Lonzo was on the court. The way he controlled the tempo, made the correct pass, or read the defense for a steal showed why he was the 2nd overall pick in last year’s NBA draft. Since basketball looks so easy for Lonzo, I asked him which was harder, basketball or rap. Flip the page for his response.
