Shaq Explains How American Express Denied His Card After He Spent $70k At Walmart After Being Traded To Suns (Video)

Shaquille O’Neal was traded to the Suns in a midseason trade with the Heat and the Big Diesel made sure everything was accomodated for his new Phoenix home. In an interview on Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel, he detailed how he went to Walmart immediately to get supplies for his house.

Shaq was blowing a bag on kitchen supplies, clothes, computers, and more. His bill ran up to $70k and that resulted in American Express calling him suspecting that that was a fraud charge.

“I have the highest purchase in Walmart history” said O’Neal on HBO.”The CEO will confirm that. I spent about $70,000 at Walmart in one night. I spent so much American Express thought my credit card was stolen. True story.

O’Neal’s card kept getting declined at the register over and over and that’s when he received the call from American Express.

“I get to the cash register and click it and it says ‘declined.’ And I’m like, ‘declined?’ So I wipe it off,” said O’Neal. “Declined. So security team from American Express calls me like, ‘Hey man, somebody stole your credit card. They at Walmart.’ I go, no sir that’s me. ‘What the f*ck are you buying.’

Gotta love how Shaq gets his everyday needs from the same places that all of us do. A lot of us would dream to blow $70k in Walmart though.
