Brock Huard was a career backup, so he might not be familiar with the pressures of winning as a college national champion, a #1 overall draft pick, & the complete & total face of a franchise.
After top-seed Virginia’s blowout, upset loss to 16th-seed UMBC, Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett was extremely gracious in complementing UMBC on the historic win (as if there was anything else he could’ve done after such an embarrassing loss):

Something about losing must have resonated with Huard because he then immediately jumped into criticizing Cam Newton’s famous post-Super Bowl words “show me a good loser & I’ll show you a loser”:
Cam Newton said famously after his Super Bowl Loss, “Show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser.”
This is the epitome of a first class competitor, and a gracious loser https://t.co/8mUSNreHN6

As a third-round pick, Huard wasn’t burdened by being expected to carry a whole team on his back. In fact, he threw for a grand total of four TDs in five seasons, so if anyone knows anything about the sting of losing a huge game, it isn’t him.
As you can imagine, Twitter had thoughts on Huard hating from outside the club when he couldn’t get in. Flip the pages to check out some of the best ones via Carolina Blitz:
