No NFC East Team Wants Dez Bryant, But a Frontrunner For His Services Has Come Forward

Dez Bryant, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, made his intentions clear by stating that he wants to play in the same division next season, but no NFC East team has shown Bryant any interest per Sean Wagner-McGough. However, a particular team is showing serious interest in the wide receiver’s service.

Baltimore Ravens are interested in adding Bryant to their roster. Bryant was a menace for the Ravens when he played for the Cowboys. In his two career games against the Ravens, Bryant caught 19 of 23 targets for 175 yards and four touchdowns.

Quarterback Joe Flacco would pretty much welcome the acquisition of Bryant, as the team’s lack of playmakers has contributed dismally not only to Ravens’ season objectives but also Flacco’s numbers. The signing of Bryant could help end their recent stretch of mediocrity.

The only potential stumbling block is that Bryant may not be interested in the Ravens. After all, the wide receiver already said that he prefers to remain in the NFC East, but if he can’t then he’s looking to join a Super Bowl contender and play with a superstar quarterback. Right now, the Ravens are a long way from being considered a Super Bowl contender, and whether Flacco is a superstar quarterback or not is debatable.

Despite his preferences, Bryant may not have too much leverage as he enters free agency at the worst time possible. The days of teams overpaying for wide receivers, especially those late in their careers are long gone. Bryant can’t be too picky about where he wants to play for too long or else he may remain a free agent for awhile.
