Adrien Broner and Jesse Vargas had their final press conference ahead of their showdown at Barclays Center this Saturday and this one escalated fast. Broner pointed to Vargas’ losses and said that the fighters he lost to don’t compare to the ones Broner fell to. He continued to go in on Vargas and called out Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.
“You stepped up and fought Timothy Bradley and you lost,” said Broner. “When you stepped up to Pacquiao, you lost. So shut that s*** up.”
Broner truly believes that the world is against him and that Vargas is the fan favorite.
“I know all of yall are against me,” said Broner. “Vargas, Leonard Ellerbe, they’re against me. They’re with this b**** ass n**** and Ellerbe is a b**** ass n**** too.”
Ellerbe stood up for himself by saying it’s not about him and that Broner has to fight Vargas but Broner continued to say that Ellerbe isn’t with him. He concluded by saying “shut that soft s*** up” after Ellerbe said it’s about who the best man wins on Saturday.
AB continued to go on his epic rant by saying “They don’t want me to be in nice cars, Rolexes, APs, or private jets. They want me to lose this fight, go under the rug and never be talked about again. They don’t wanna see me at the top of my pinnacle. I’ve been training my ass off and I’m not losing to no Jesse Vargas. Yall got me f***** up.”
I caught up with Ellerbe and he said young fighters should learn to be respectful and that in boxing, athletes quickly find out when you conduct yourself like a professional and businessman, things work out in your favor.
Broner had a bad loss to Mikey Garcia last summer and will look to defeat Vargas in his road to become a dominant world champion again.
