Jazz fans had time on their hands for Russell Westbrook.
After being eliminated from the playoffs by the Utah Jazz, fans decided it was a good time to trash talk Westbrook but what they didn’t expect was he had some words for them in return.
Incident number one took place at the halfway mark. As Westbrook made his way back to the locker room, a Jazz fan leaned over and had some choice words for Westbrook. Instead of letting it go and walking on, Westbrook appears to tell the fan something to the effect of “you better back up.”
Incident number two took place at the conclusion of the game when he left the building. It’s unclear whether the person wasn’t trying to get a high-five or was trolling. Either way, Westbrook wasn’t having it.
Before people come out of the woodworks saying he should have handled it better because he’s a millionaire, what about his personal space? Fans are known to get a little out of control and security could have done a better job.
“I didn’t confront fans; fans confronted me,” Westbrook said. “Here in Utah, man, a lot of disrespectful, vulgar things are said to the players here with these fans. It’s truly disrespectful. Talk about your families, your kids. It’s truly disrespectful to the game, man.”
“I think it’s something that needs to be brought up,” he continued. “I’m tired of just going out and playing, then the fans saying whatever the hell they want to say. I’m not with that. If I was on the street, they wouldn’t just come up to me and say anything crazy, because I don’t play that s—. So, to disrespect me and do whatever they want to do needs to be put to a stop, especially here in Utah.”
