The Sixers showed a lot of promise this season as they won 52 games and appeared in the playoffs for the first time since 2012. The organization also saw rookie Ben Simmons shine along with Joel Embiid being dominant despite still battling the injury bug.
Head Coach Brett Brown still beleives that Philly needs help in order to win an NBA title, per ESPN. He thinks that a high-level free agent is needed to bring another championship to the city.
“At some point, when the time is right, I think we need help to win a championship,” said Brown. “If that’s the goal — and for me and us it is — then that’s the answer I give.”
Brown also believes that the Sixers have a number of factors that can entice a top free agent to come to Philly. Among them are the team’s style of play, culture and beig in a large market.
“For the first time since I’ve been here, there is tremendous clarity on what we have,” said Brown. “We don’t have to turn this into calculus — it’s quite clear.”
LeBron James has been a very popular name brought up of which star the Sixers should pursue this summer. There have also been reports that the Sixers are on his list of teams to decide on in free agency. James would seem like the missing piece to a championship and it would make sense for him to stay in the East and continue to dominate the conference.
