The Eagles knocked off the Patriots with a solid 41-33 win in the Super Bowl but leading up to the big game, there was a lot of tension between the teams, according to Philadelphia Offensive Tackle Lane Johnson on the Steve Austin Show.
“Here’s what pissed me off,” said Johnson. “The Patriots, obviously, I respect their coach, I respect Bill Belichick, I respect Tom Brady, but just because the way that they won the Super Bowls, the Patriot Way, is that how everybody else is supposed to do the same thing? No, it’s not. And that’s what I got mad at, the arrogance by them.”
Johnson also added that Robert Kraft and Belichick talked a lot of trash to Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson and owner Jeffrey Lurie.
“There was obviously some stuff behind closed doors. Their owner talking s— to our owner. Bill talking s— to our head coach before the game. I’m not going to say it, but a lot of s— kind of built up to that, and I just got tired of hearing about it, man, to be honest.”
The Eagles could officially be the kryptonite that ends the Brady-Belichick era in New England though. Numerous reports this offseason stated how there have been tension between the two along with how Belichick was still salty that Robert Kraft traded Jimmy Garoppolo when he was supposed to be the heir to Brady.
