LiAngelo Ball on Why Being Drafted By The Lakers Is a Priority After One & Done Season Overseas

Had LiAngelo Ball went overseas and clearly dominated every game, him playing in the NBA alongside his brother Lonzo would be much more likely…still a long shot, but at least within the realm of imagination.

Instead, LiAngelo struggled against the top talent the league had to offer (nowhere near NBA level at it’s best), & missed the last few games due to an ankle injury. He averaged a light 12.6 points & 22 minutes a game, not exactly eye-popping stats, despite likely turning a few heads with a 72 point performance, though it was against a Chinese youth team.

The Ball Family (sans Lonzo) appeared on ESPN LA for an interview where LiAngelo spoke about the prospect of playing for the Lakers & re-kindling the magic he & Lonzo created in high school:

“Lakers is my priority, for sure,” LiAngelo Ball said, via Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation. “I want to play with my brother. Ever since I played with Zo, we went undefeated. Same thing will happen when we get older. We’re just going to get stronger and faster and better feel for the game. It will be a good outcome.

“I’m willing to play for other teams. That’s fine if they pick me. My priority is the Lakers. I just want to play with my brother.”

I’m fairly certain LiAngelo Ball won’t be getting drafted into the NBA, however, I wouldn’t put it past Magic Johnson to bring in LiAngelo as an undrafted free agent to appease & light a fire under his star point guard.
