A New Jersey man aided authorities in his own arrest when he called out for help in the direction of police officers but later regretted the decision when he was taken into custody.
NBC 5 Chicago reports that Markell Morris was screaming out of the passenger side window, of a car he was riding in, toward the direction of police as if asking for help. After the car was pulled over, he said he didn’t need help.
“I was just acting stupid,” Morris told police when they approached but once officers reached the driver’s window, they were greeted with the loud smell of marijuana coming from a pre-rolled White Owl blunt.
After discovering the weed, officers ran both the driver and Morris’ name and discovered four outstanding warrants for Morris’ arrest including one in Florida.
Morris was arrested on the outstanding warrants and taken to police headquarters. The driver was released without incident.
