The Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-83 in game one of the eastern conference finals on Sunday. The Celtics led from start to finish and really put it on the Cavs. With the way narratives and momentum swing with games, people are now saying the Celtics will sweep and the Cavs dominance over the Raptors in the last round doesn’t seem to matter.
Everyone needs to relax and remember we have a long way to go. All the Celtics did was defend their home court in the opening game of the conference finals. They haven’t won the series yet, and they need to defeat this generation’s best player three more times. No easy task. Remember the Indiana Pacers also beat LeBron and the Cavs pretty badly in Cleveland in game one of that series, and we know how that turned out. Bron was not very good this game, 15 points, 7 turnovers, and a -32. But the likelihood of him following up with another dud in game two is highly unlikely. Check his history, a bad game is almost always followed up by a game in which he is unstoppable.
Give the Celtics credit, Brad Stevens had them ready to play and they dominated on both sides of the ball. Al Horford, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Marcus Morris were great. Again, they will have to summon up those efforts three more times to close out the King. Of course, we here at BSO have measured takes about these things. Twitter, of course, had its own thoughts.
