The Phoenix Suns have several options with the No. 1 in the NBA Draft. Many signs point to them selecting Arizona’s Deandre Ayton or Euroleague star Luka Doncic.
Phoenix also has their eyes set on Trae Young.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman, the Suns may be in the market for another top-10 draft pick in order to draft Young. They are looking to bring the Oklahoma star point guard in for a workout.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman, the Suns “have been trying” to bring Young in for a workout and dinner meeting, moves that suggest they could try to trade back into the mid-to-late lottery to bolster their backcourt.
The Suns currently own the first and 16th picks in the first round as well as the first pick (No. 31 overall) of the second round. Wasserman suggested they could try to package No. 16, No. 31 and “maybe someone like Marquese Chriss” to try to wiggle their way back into the top 10.
The Suns could tool together a solid roster if they manage to get both Young and Ayton in the draft. They would fit well alongside their young cornerstone pieces in Josh Jackson and Devin Booker.
Ayton is already predicting that he will be staying in Arizona.
“I know I’m going No. 1,” Ayton told reporters after his workout in Phoenix.
“Nobody told me,” he added. “That’s just me. I think I deserve that. I’ve worked hard.”
